Over the past few years, one of my favorite shows on TV has been Getting On, from HBO.
The show tackles some of life’s greatest issues, including a sometimes taboo subject, death. It makes you think, “will I have any regrets?”
Let’s face it, death is never a fun topic of conversation. In fact, it’s often avoided. However, Getting On puts it in the spot light. In one scene, there is a hospice care worker talking about how she hears all the regrets that people have as they come to the end of their life.
Which leads me to this article from LifeHack.com, 20 Things people regret before they die.
Number 10 on the list, “I wish I had traveled more”.
Sure enough, there it is! Your tie in to this blog and post.
Life is short, very short in fact. With everything going on in the world, why put travel plans or your life on hold? Tomorrow may never come!
I’m not here to have a political discussion or say “Hey, let’s all take a 3 week trip to Libya!” However, I want to see this planet! I want to have as many cool experiences as I can, hopefully with great food involved! Like a good friend says, “we gotta go to all these amazing places now, while we can!”
Here are the top 5 places on my travel list I wanna go to sooner rather than later:
- North Korea
- Easter Island
Sure, a few of these might be hard, i.e. North Korea, however, exploring the world expands your mind! Being able to visit a country without judging is an incredible gift. However you feel, it finally brings me back to the number 1 regret on the list, “I wish I’d care less about what people think”. While opinions are important, being kind, open minded and giving lots of LOVE is the greatest gift you can give back to the world.
So, where do you want to go? What trip have you been putting off?
I’ll leave you with this funny clip from Getting On.
